6.0 I would like to coach but am not sure if I have the skill

the SDMFA is an orgnaization run by volunteers. The success of our program starts with the most important volunteers and those are the moms and dads who step up to look after the kids...usually in T-Ball. We try our best to help the coaches learn the game as best as we can and offer coaching clinics and seminars for all of our volunteers. It is our hope that the volunteer coaches maintain an interest in helping their children and others enjoy and move on with the game.

In the early years it is not important to have any coaching experience or any super-duper knowlegde of the game. Parents at this age group should have good communications skills with children and be able to organize a practice.

At Mite level SDMFA hopes that coaches have some experience coaching softball and it is prefered that they have or would be interested in taking the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP).

Softball BC will require that head coaches at Squirt and above have their Level 1 Certification.

Coaches who have teams entering Provincial Play should have or have as part of their coaching staff, a Level 2 certified coach.
